The Lavens Bring Original Americana to Sancho's for the Birthday Show Honoring Bassist Andreas Laven

San Antonio, TX — The Lavens, one of San Antonio's most enduring family bands, will play a special live set at Sancho's Cantina y Cocina on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. The evening doubles as a birthday celebration for bassist and band patriarch Andreas Laven.

The Lavens have built their reputation on original Americana songwriting, blues phrasing, and a thoughtful approach to classic covers. Their setlists move easily between heartfelt originals and time-tested standards that come alive on a Friday night cantina patio. The band features Jana Laven on vocals, Andreas Laven on bass, and Niko Laven on lead guitar and vocals, joined by Michael Madison and Chris McWilliams.

Sancho's Cantina y Cocina, located at 628 Jackson St in San Antonio's historic Five Points neighborhood, has been a cornerstone of the city's live music and cantina culture since opening on Valentine's Day, 2015. The venue serves made-from-scratch Mexican food, 100% agave tequilas, and award-winning margaritas, with a large rooftop deck offering one of the most relaxed views of the downtown San Antonio skyline.

The music is free. Food and drinks are available at regular menu prices throughout the evening. The kitchen stays open until midnight.
