The Story

SAN ANTONIO, Texas. The Olmos Park Terrace Uptown Art Stroll returns Saturday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, November 8, from noon to 5 p.m., and one stop on the map brings six artists together at one location: 161 West Lovera. Visitors can meet Claudia Langford, Maria Guerrero, David Guerrero, Michelle Belto, David Pena, and LOCOSAN, the artistic name of ceramic artist Jerry Lockey, all in one place.

The organizer's 2026 map lists Stop 4 as encaustics, collages, yard art, jewelry, and photography, with the group's work also spanning mixed media, painting, glass, metal, and woodworking. LOCOSAN will present an artist selected display at the stop. The images on this sheet draw on the artist's broader collection and do not list the works on view, and each of the six artists shows their own work.

LOCOSAN builds by hand in low fired earthenware, raising walls from coils and slabs and leaving the mark of the hand visible under the glaze, with modern and vintage glazes chosen for saturated color. The studio's guiding word is Shouganai, a Japanese phrase meaning it cannot be helped: accept what the heat decides, and move forward. The studio, in the Beacon Hill neighborhood, is open by appointment.

The Art Stroll is a neighborhood tradition in which artists share work at homes and gathering places across Olmos Park Terrace. The organizer describes at least 80 artists at 29 locations, free pedicab rides between stops, free refreshments at various locations, and printed maps at each one. This year's postcard carries a dedication: In memory of friend and neighbor Louise Craig, a glass artist and Uptown Art Stroll event organizer.
