The Story

Press Release

BOERNE, Texas. Some traditions are announced; this one is simply kept. Since 2002, Rudi Harst and The Rudiments have marked the solstices and equinoxes inside Cave Without A Name, and on Saturday, December 19, 2026, at 7 PM, they return to the cave's Queen's Throne Room for Winter Solstice: Rudi & the Rudiments, a holiday concert for the longest night of the year.

The program pairs contemporary arrangements of traditional carols with Rudi's original acoustic music. He sings and plays acoustic guitar, Native American flute, dulcimer, harmonica and Tibetan bowls, with The Rudiments beside him, in a limestone room the venue prizes for its natural acoustics. As at every one of these cave concerts, part of the evening is performed in complete darkness, which turns out to be an excellent way to hear a carol you thought you knew.

Rudi has made San Antonio his home since 1974. He has spent more than fifty years onstage, released ten original albums, written the book Hurry Slowly and created the solo musical Ready or Not, and in 1992 he and his wife, Zet, cofounded Celebration Circle of San Antonio. The solstice concert gathers all of that into one quiet, generous hour and a half underground.

Tickets are $35 in advance until 5 PM on December 19 and $40 at the door if available, sold by Cave Without A Name at https://fareharbor.com/embeds/book/cwan/items/735827/availability/2098179039/book/?full-items=yes or by phone at 830-537-4212 during regular business hours. All concert sales are final.

A few practical notes from the venue: the concert room is reached by 126 steps with handrails and eight landings, and the cave has no wheelchair access. The cave holds at 66 degrees year round, so bring a layer and shoes with good traction. Seating is open, only bottled water is allowed inside, and most concerts run about 90 minutes. The venue does not state an age policy.

Cave Without A Name is at 325 Kreutzberg Rd., Boerne, TX 78006. The event is also listed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/1035547942353656/.

Campaign Idea

The Room That Waits For Light: on the longest night, go underground with Rudi and hear the light come back. The campaign treats the concert as a ritual of darkness and return, carried by Rudi's own cave session photographs and his dancing man mark.

Audience Rationale: Built for adults roughly 45 to 75 across San Antonio and the Hill Country who mark the seasons on purpose and value quiet, acoustic music and belonging (inferred from Rudi's site and five decade career). The ask is single: buy a ticket from Cave Without A Name. Facts, prices and guest notes come from the venue and Rudi's own pages.
