SAN ANTONIO, Texas. The UIW Jazz Jam meets at Midtown Meetup Neighborhood Hangout, 801 W Russell Pl, from 8 to 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, and again on Tuesday, Dec. 22.

Musicians of all levels are invited to take part. A jazz jam is a conversation with rules loose enough to surprise everyone in the room: a head, a round of solos, a nod to trade fours. Midtown's horns and rhythm section photos show a stage built for exactly that kind of exchange.

Bring a horn, a bass or a set of ears. RSVP is free on Eventbrite.
